To connect Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, with the port city Chittagong there are 3 ongoing projects to improve the National Highway no. 1.
After widening the highroad, three bridges became a bottle-neck in the infrastructure, as 90 percent of all the import and export is done via the Chittagong port.
The 3 new bridges are build next to the existing bridges: the Kanchpur Bridge, the Meghna Bridge and the Gumti Bridge, shortened as KMG. The length of the second Kanchpur bridge is 397 meters, while the length of the second Meghna bridge is 930 meters and of the second Meghna-Gumti bridge 1,410 meters.
During construction of the foundations our client has conducted 21 PDA tests on steel piles and 22 PDA tests on Cast-In-Situ piles. The cast in situ piles test were performed by a 20 ton hammer.
