Inclinometers

Portable MEMS Inclinometer

The MEMS Portable Inclinometer system utilises modern communication and Smart devices to enable the tilt data generated by the probe to be managed, stored and transferred directly from site via FTP, API, email or other communication platforms. It is available for vertical, inclined and horizontal applications.

Inclinometer Casing QJ

Geosense® QJ Inclinometer Casing is a quick connecting casing, precision extruded from ABS, with four precise keyways formed at 90 degrees which allow accurate installation of portable and in-place inclinometers.

Geosense In-place Inclinometer (IPI)

The Geosense In-Place Inclinometer System (IPI) allows automatic and continuous measurement of deformation profiles within inclinometer casings in a vertical, inclined, or horizontal orientation. Offered in  either Uniaxial or Biaxial sensors and as a rigid rod or wire rope systems.

IPI-X In-Place Inclinometer – Extensometer

The IPI-X is designed to be installed in inclinometer casing to automatically measure settlement or heave, together with tilt for full 3D borehole profiling.

The IPI-X is an Automatic Magnetic Extensometer combined with an In-Place Inclinometer which can be used typically to measure vertical and horizontal displacement in embankments, dam foundations, deep foundations and around tunnels and diaphragm walls.

Piezometers

A range of piezometers for the measurement of pore water pressure and groundwater levels within soil and rock.

Piezometers are typically used for understanding initial site condition, determining safe rates for placement of fill, predicting slope stability, designing for lateral earth pressure and evaluating the effectiveness of drainage schemes.

Data can be obtained using a portable readout or connected into a data logger for automatic monitoring.

Joint and Crack Meters

For measuring displacement of adjacent surfaces.

Crack meters are designed to measure displacements across cracks and joints typically in buildings, bridges, dams, pipelines and rock formations and are available for measuring movement in one (1D) or three axes (3D).

Joint meters are ideal for monitoring movement of joints in mass-concrete structures. Typical applications include abutments, slabs, foundations and retaining walls, tunnels or shaft linings, arch, gravity and buttress dams.

Data can be obtained using a portable readout or connected into a data logger for automatic monitoring.

Strain Gauges

For measuring strain in a wide range of applications.

Vibrating Wire Strain Gauges measure strain within a wide range of media including steel and concrete the data from which can be used to calculate a wide range of parameters including load, stress and pressure.

The weldable version can be fixed to steel load-bearing beams, tunnel segments, struts, sheet pile walling and tendons whereas the embedment type is suitable for direct burial and can be used in pile tests, load bearing concrete beams and columns, tunnel segments and concrete foundations.

Can be read with a portable readout or connected to a data logger for automatic data acquisition.

Applications

How to effectively monitor infrastructure integrity in the long term?

Construction and civil engineering are challenged with the need of data-driven risk management and cost-efficient maintenance plans. Traditional monitoring technology is often of high cost, which leads to insufficient coverage to advance the influence of external factors on the infrastructure’s integrity.

Geosense is an award-winning end-to-end manufacturer of sensors for the geotechnical, civil engineering, mining and environmental industries. Used on major projects worldwide our sensors have helped unlock insights for Engineers in over 100 countries for over 30 years.

Specialising in core technologies such as vibrating wire & MEMS inclinometers, we have built our reputation on the highest quality standards, with our sensors designed and manufactured in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built ECO facility near Cambridge in the UK and delivered across the globe.
